During the COVID-19 crisis, I was living in a housing situation where I would have been unable to regularly attend my classes. I was given permission to return to Yale after Spring break, but the inequity of class and privilege was exposed by those who either struggled or were fine with completing the rest of the semester. Seeing how clear the divide is, I believe it is unfair for Yale to require the SIC, which disproportionately affects lower income students. I am fortunate enough to not have to worry about the SIC, however, I know many students in similar situations do have to worry about it. I am demanding that Yale do the right thing and eliminate the SIC.
